Historic Agnew and Taylor Closing
Historic Agnew and Taylor will be closing its doors.

The current owners of the Agnew and Taylor hardware store have decided to retire, after 35 years of service to our Lake Ronkonkoma community!
Agnew and Taylor has become a treasured institution, that sold hardware, that was used in every Lake Ronkonkoma household! They stock every type of hardware, above and beyond the items stocked by the big box stores! For example, I found and purchased a 27 gallon galvanized trash can at A and T.
I moved away from Lake Ronkonkoma 50 years ago, and found myself taking trips back to Agnew and Taylor, because I knew that they would have the specialized hardware that I needed!

The historic appearance of A and T gave Lake Ronkonkoma a warm historic persona! Every time I looked at A and T, I would try to visualize what it looked like a century ago, when horses were tied to posts outside of the store! LOL!
I always admired the little red wagons that are in the window display, for as far back as I can remember! They did something that I admired… They went out of their way to present themselves as a country general hardware store; which is exactly what they are!

They are currently selling out their inventory. You might want to visit the owners and staff before they actually close their doors.

I will miss Agnew and Taylor hardware store. The next time I have a “Gazinta,” I have no idea as to where I can go to purchase the missing half! A “Gazinta” is the scourge of all hardware stores! LOL! Customers almost always walk into a hardware store carrying some obscure part, and want to buy the part that it goes into! Very sad! After Agnew and Taylor closes, I will never be able to “Gazinta” again! LOL! "Gazintering" in a country hardware store is part of the fun! The last of the real country hardware stores goes into retirement! Sad!
