Holtsville's CARCO Group Releases New App
iPhone application allows users to research a vehicle's history.

Holtsville based CARCO Group, a nationally recognized information services company that provides fraud detection and risk mitigation services to businesses, has announced the release of a free iPhone application that allows mobile access to their CheckThatVin product, the company said in a statement this week.
“Times have changed, the way consumers buy and research has changed,” CARCO President and CEO James Owens said in a statement. “We need to make it as easy as possible for people to get real-time information to help formulate their vehicle purchasing decisions. We are thrilled to be able to provide an accurate, convenient means to ease the process and provide peace of mind.”
CheckThatVin allows users to research a vehicle’s history by using the Vehicle Identification Number and the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System database.

At $4.99 per iPhone search provides timely and accurate title, brand, salvage and total loss information than competitive services, the company said.
The service, which is also available to anyone at Checkthatvin.com, is a valuable resource to consumers in the market for used cars, and for dealers considering bringing a car on their lot at auction, or by trade-in.

Carco said the application allows a vehicle’s VIN to be read by taking a picture of the barcode, rather than requiring the user to enter the digits manually.
