🌱 Home Heating Estimated To Be Up 29% + Thanksgiving Travel Times
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

Hi all. It's me, Andrew Tessler, your host of the Sachem Daily — here to impart everything that's fit to print about what's happening in town these days. Including news about:
- LI home heating costs estimated to be up 29% this winter.
- See five new homes for sale in the Town of Brookhaven.
- Check out the worst Thanksgiving travel times on the Long Island Expressway.
But first, today's weather:
Breezy; morning rain. High: 58 low: 34.
Here are the top three stories today in Sachem:
- Check out five new homes for sale in the Town of Brookhaven. The homes are all located in the Town of Brookhaven and range in price and size. Interest rates are now the highest they've been in twenty years which means the seller's market has vanished on Long Island and buying opportunities are great. See the homes in the link.(Sachem Patch)
- Check out the worst Thanksgiving travel times on the Long Island Expressway. Did you know that the LIE has some of the worst traffic in the entire country on Thanksgiving? Holiday travel will be equal to pre-pandemic levels this year. "Travel has nearly returned to normal and people are eager to see family and friends, making for a busy Thanksgiving holiday," said Robert Sinclair, Jr. of AAA Northeast. Avoid traveling from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and see other tips by clicking the link. (Patch)
- LI home heating costs are estimated to be up 29% this winter. National Grid says the surge in cost is due to higher wholesale gas costs. New York State is offering financial assistance through the Home Heating Assistance Program. (Patch)
