RONKONKOMA, NY — A K-9 officer was dispatched to the Ronkonkoma Long Island Rail Road station over a call for a suspicious package on Tuesday afternoon, a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.

There was a call that came in just after 12 p.m., and a K-9 was dispatched, according to the MTA.

The backpack was cleared, and the investigation wrapped up by 12:15 p.m., the MTA said.
