Suffolk Man Caught With 32-Caliber Handgun Near Park: Cops

He was found after a 911 caller reported a man with a gun running around Raynor Park on Sunday, police said.

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — A Lake Grove man was charged with weapon possession after Suffolk police say they caught him with a revolver in Lake Ronkonkoma on Sunday.

Fourth Precinct Patrol officers responded to Raynor Park on Ronkonkoma Avenue, after a 911 caller reported "a man with a gun running around the lake" at 4:20 p.m., police said. Officers searched the area and found a man fitting the description of the suspect in front of a location on Lake Terrace Road around 4:24 p.m., according to police.

The suspect, Kyle Cronin, 20, had a .32-caliber revolver and was taken into custody, police said.

An AR-15 rifle was also found inside Cronin’s home and was seized, according to police.

Cronin was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a felony, and he is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Jan. 27, police said.
