CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – A Long Island Rail Road train struck a tractor-trailer on the tracks Wednesday morning in Central Islip. The train involved in the collision, which occurred at the Carleton Avenue crossing, was the 7:39 a.m. train from Penn Station due in Ronkonkoma at 8:59 a.m., the LIRR said. The driver of the tractor-trailer that was struck was not seriously injured. As of 9:30 a.m., service on the LIRR's Ronkonkoma Branch is suspended in both directions between Brentwood and Ronkonkoma.
