LI's Muslim Community Leaders In Desperate Search For Burial Ground: Report
Leaders have been searching 10 years while plots run out at their main cemetery, Washington Memorial Park in Mount Sinai, Newsday reported.

SELDEN, NY — As the main cemetery that the Long Island, Brooklyn, and Queens Muslim population use to bury their dead runs out of plots, the religious community's leaders are growing desperate in their decade-long search for land, according to a report.
Nayyar Imam, a leader of the Islamic Association of Long Island mosque in Selden who has spearheaded the search, told Newsday they looked from Nassau County's western border straight out to Montauk, and spoke to numerous officials. There were no sites available.
Washington Memorial Park Cemetery in Mount Sinai, which is the main cemetery the community has been burying their dead, is running out of plots, and because there are no Muslim cemeteries in New York City, people from as far away as Queens and Brooklyn use the cemetery, according to the outlet.
