Local Fire Departments Share Lifesaving Lessons With Students

During the month of October, local fire departments across the Sachem Central School District visited each of the 10 elementary buildings to educate students on the importance of fire safety for annual Fire Prevention Month.

As part of the districtwide presentations, firefighters showcased department vehicles such as ambulances, fire engines and ladder trucks. Additionally, students viewed tools and equipment used by firefighters in emergencies. The local firefighters also explained in detail several fire safety lessons, ways to stay safe in emergency situations and held Q&A sessions with students.
