Long Island Corner Dedicated To Firefighter Who Died Of Cancer
Jack Fogarty was "a true American hero as a firefighter and Army veteran." - Brookhaven Town Councilman Neil Foley

RONKONKOMA, NY — A Ronkonkoma street corner was dedicated to a retired New York Fire Department firefighter who died last year from a World Trade Center-related illness.
John Patrick “Jack” Fogarty, United States Army veteran who served at Ladder Company 3 in Manhattan, retired in 2002 after 40 years with FDNY. He died on Aug. 25, 2020, but he will always be remembered on the street he lived on — Bea Avenue. To honor Fogarty, Brookhaven Town officials recently dedicated the corner of Bea Avenue and Joy Place by adding another street sign with the words, "FDNY Firefighter John P. Fogarty."

Councilman Neil Foley, whose district includes the area where Fogarty lived, called him "a true American hero as a firefighter and Army veteran who was loved and respected by his colleagues, friends and family. "
