Lynwood Students Cultivate Empathy Through Reading Project
Students completed a read-a-thon project land earned about helping others as they raised money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Lynwood Avenue Elementary School third grade students in the Sachem Central School District recently completed a read-a-thon project where they focused on the importance of empathy and helping others as they raised money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

As part of the monthlong read-a-thon, students read books to raise money for the organization and also collected toiletries and nonperishable items to donate as well. Concluding their project, students wrote reflective papers on their projects on empathy to share what they have learned and what empathy means to them.
Overall, the incredible student effort raised $2,722, which was presented to a representative from the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
