His truck struck a tree and then flipped over, police say.

HOLBROOK, NY — A Brookhaven man was critically injured on Saturday when the pickup truck he was driving flipped over on the Long Island Expressway in Holbrook on Saturday, Suffolk police said.

John Parente was driving a 2007 Ford pickup truck westbound on Express Drive North when it left the road, struck a tree and then flipped over just before 3 p.m., said police, adding that officers from the Emergency Services Section and members of the Ronkonkoma Fire Department worked together to remove him from the truck.

Parente, 63, was transported by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is in “critical condition,” police said.
