Man Dies After Car Crashes Into School Bus

RONKONKOMA, NY – A 55-year-old man was killed when his car collided with a school bus in Ronkonkoma Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, a Hauppauge man was driving a 2005 Toyota north on Ocean Avenue when he crossed over into southbound lanes and struck a school bus near Peconic Avenue at about 3:50 p.m.

The driver of the Toyota, who police have not yet named, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead. There were no passengers on the bus and the bus driver was not injured.

Both vehicles are being impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
