Man Fixing Car Dies After Hit-And-Run Crash On LIE Service Road

He was working on a car with another man while it was parked outside of a home on Express Drive South, Suffolk cops say.

HOLTSVILLE, NY — Two men working on a car were struck — one of them killed — after a hit-and-run driver plowed into them on the Long Island Expressway service road in Holtsville on Wednesday evening, Suffolk police said.

Ryan Walker and Robert Kehlembeck were working on a 1989 F-150 pickup truck parked outside of Walker’s home on Express Drive South, when the pair was struck by a vehicle at about 5:30 p.m., said police adding, that the vehicle was driven away headed east.

Walker, 37, was taken by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital and pronounced dead, and Kehlembeck, 46, was treated for serious injuries, according to police.
