Man Killed In Suffolk House Fire

The fire broke out on Sunday night.

FARMINGVILLE, NY - A man was killed in a Farmingville house fire on Sunday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Sixth Precinct police officers, firefighters from Farmingville, Ronkonkoma, Selden, Holtsville, Medford and North Patchogue, as well as the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal, responded the Elder Avenue home at 11:32 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a fire at the location.

After the fire was extinguished, the body of an adult male was found inside, police said.

The man, a resident of the home, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

His name is being withheld pending identification by the medical examiner.

Arson Section detectives believe the cause of the fire to be non-criminal.
