Mastic Woman Seriously Hurt In Crash With SUV In Centereach: Police

She and the other driver were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of their injuries, Suffolk police say.

CENTEREACH, NY — A Mastic woman was seriously hurt in a motor vehicle crash in Centereach on Wednesday, Suffolk police said.

The woman, 19, was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata westbound on Middle Country Road just before 1 p.m., when it struck a 2017 Honda CR-V, in which the driver was trying to turn left onto North Washington Avenue from Middle Country Road, according to police.

The woman was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, police said, adding that the Honda's driver, a 70-year-old man from Centereach, was also taken there, but with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check, according to police.

The 6th Squad in Selden is investigating, police said.
