More Than 310 Winter Coats Collected In Drive At Brookhaven Town Hall

FARMINGVILLE, NY — This winter around 310 winter coats, along with scarves, hats, and gloves were donated to Brookhaven Town's INTERFACE Winter Coat Drive at Town Hall by employees of Brookhaven Science Associates, who work at Brookhaven National Laboratory, as well as Farmingdale State College’s Kappa Sigma Fraternity, officials said.

The lab's employees collected around 280 coats, while the fraternity collected 30.

The fraternity also raised funds to further support children and families in need throughout the Town.

BNL Manager of Environmental and Community Engagement Amy Engel and staff member William McPherson were recently welcomed by Councilman Neil Manzella, Town Clerk Kevin LaValle, INTERFACE Coordinator Josephine Lunde, and Councilman Michael Loguercio, who thanked them for their generosity.

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico said the delivery "will help the Youth Bureau fulfill its mission of providing the gift of warmth to residents throughout Brookhaven Town."

“Their initiative and compassion speak volumes about their commitment to helping neighbors in need," he added.
