Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In High-Speed Crash On LIE

The 24-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday night. An unlicensed driver was cited in the crash, police say.

HOLBROOK, NY – A 24-year-old man was seriously injured in a crash between a motorcycle and a car on the Long Island Expressway Wednesday night, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, John Abad was riding a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle west at a high rate of speed on the LIE between exits 62 and 61 in Holbrook when he rear-ended a 2018 Toyota at about 9:50 p.m.

Abad, of Medford, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, 24-year-old Mario Padilla, of Farmingville, was not hurt in the crash. He was cited for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
