Pedestrian Killed In Suffolk Hit-And-Run Crash: Police

The man was lying in the roadway of the L.I.E. when a vehicle struck him, police say.

RONKONKOMA, NY — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Ronkonkoma on Monday night, Suffolk police said.

Robert Twiford, 61, of Melville, was lying in the roadway of the Long Island Expressway Exit 60E off-ramp when he was struck by at least one vehicle, which then drove away, at 8 p.m., police said.

Twiford was pronounced dead at Stony Brook University Hospital.
