UPDATE: Police ID Woman Fatally Struck By SUV In Lake Ronkonkoma

The woman was struck by a 2011 GMC Yukon Friday night.

Police have identified the woman who died after being struck by an SUV in Lake Ronkonkoma Friday night.

According to Suffolk Police, 62-year-old Cynthia Chorzempa was crossing Ronkonkoma Avenue from west to east in front of 132 Ronkonkoma Ave. when she was struck by a 2011 GMC Yukon at about 8 p.m.

Chorzempa, of Holbrook, was transported by Ronkonkoma Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the GMC, a 47-year-old Oakdale woman, stayed at the scene. No criminal charges have been filed.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
