Long Island Rail Road Train Strikes Person Near Bethpage Train Station
Service was restored at about 1:30 p.m., though officials said riders should expect delays.
BETHPAGE, NY — A person was struck by a Long Island Rail Road train in Bethpage Thursday afternoon, Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials said.
Officials delivered the news in a service announcement to the ridership over Twitter at about 12:30 p.m., saying that the Ronkonkoma Branch's service was suspended in both directions between Hicksville and Ronkonkoma "due to an unauthorized person who was struck by a train east of Bethpage."
Service was restored at about 1:30 p.m., though officials urged riders to expect delays.

A spokesperson told Newsdaythat the strike happened at about 11 a.m.
