Police: 5 Teens Arrested For Theft, Vandalism Spree in LIRR Parking Lot

Police received an anonymous 911 call early Sunday morning reporting car break-ins.

Five teens were arrested early Sunday morning for damaging and stealing items from multiple cars parked in the Central Islip Long Island Rail Road parking lot over the past couple of weeks, police said.

According to police, Third Precinct officers responded to the parking lot located on Suffolk Avenue after receiving an anonymous 911 call reporting car break-ins at 3:20 a.m. Sunday.

When police arrived, they located and arrested five people for damaging cars, police said.

A BB gun was recovered which had been used by the teens to break windows in some of the targeted cars, police said.

A further investigation determined the teens were responsible for damaging about 15 cars and stealing items from within vehicles in the same railroad parking lot since May 24, police said.

Jose Mendoza, 18, of Central Islip, is charged with five counts of fourth degree criminal mischief and one count of petty larceny. Gerardo Ramirezperez, 17, of Central Islip, is charged with five counts of fourth degree criminal mischief and two counts of petty larceny. Three juveniles were also arrested and charged with three counts of fourth degree criminal mischief, police said.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending, police said.
