Police: Holbrook Man Fled Police on Motorcycle at 120 MPH Upstate

The 20-year-old was arrested Monday.

A 20-year-old Holbrook man was arrested upstate on Monday after he fled police on a motorcycle at more than 120 mph, according to State Police.

Christopher J. Nunez is charged with reckless driving, third degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.

According to police, at about 1:53 p.m. Monday, a trooper observed Nunez traveling at over 100 mph on a Honda motorcycle and then fail to stop as he was traveling on southbound Interstate 81 north of Binghamton.

The pursuit was called off for safety when Nunez reached a speed of over 120 mph a few miles further south, police said.

The pursuit on the interstate lasted four minutes and went on for almost eight miles, police said.

Shortly after, as troopers checked the area for the fleeing motorcyclist, they stopped and arrested Nunez, who was then riding his motorcycle in Binghamton, police said.

Nunez was arraigned in the Town of Barker Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 property bond. His next date at the Town of Barker Court is on Sept. 29.
