Police ID 2 Men Killed in Fort Salonga Crash

Another man was seriously injured when a car crashed into a tree early Tuesday.

FORT SALONGA, NY- Two man were killed and another seriously injured in a single-car crash in Fort Salonga Tuesday morning, police said.

According to authorities, Leland Acampora, 26, of Hauppague, was driving a Hyundai Sonata westbound on Fort Salonga Road, near Makamah Road, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree at 4:30 a.m.

Acampora and the back seat passenger, identified as 26-year-old Commack resident Woody Salman, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The front seat passenger, identified as East Northport resident Paul Weingart, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
