Police Make Arrest in Centereach Bank Robbery

A 48-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, police say.

A 48-year-old Centereach man was arrested on Wednesday and charged with a June bank robbery in Centereach.

Using video surveillance as well as Crime Stoppers tips, Pattern Crime Unit detectives identified Joseph DiSclafani as the man who robbed the People’s United Bank, located at 1919 Middle Country Road, on June 26, police said.

After identifying DiSclafani, Pattern Crime Unit detectives placed him under surveillance and he was subsequently arrested on Wednesday without incident.

DiSclafani was charged with one count of third degree robbery and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
