Police Seeking Lake Ronkonkoma Cemetery Vandals

Police are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the person or people who desecrated the historic Lake Ronkonkoma Cemetery in Lake Grove earlier this month.

According to police, vandals entered the cemetery located at 792 Hawkins Avenue sometime between Jan. 4 and Jan. 8 and damaged 14 grave markers and headstones. Some of the grave stones dated back to the Civil War, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
