Hey, everybody. It's Thursday in Sachem and I'm back in your inbox to get you caught up on the most important things happening in town, including news on:
- Suffolk officials plan for next emergency.
- Five upcoming open houses.
- Heavy rain could bring flooding tonight.
But first, today's weather:
Windy; heavy p.m. showers. High: 68 low: 58.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Sachem who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Sachem Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories in Sachem today:
- Suffolk officials plan ahead with drill for another emergency. The tabletop drill will be held today by Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security."Tabletop exercises have been vital to the county's response during previous emergencies, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this latest event will help us sharpen our disaster response and ensure all departments work in a coordinated fashion," County Executive Steve Bellone said. - As the real estate market cools down on Long Island, check out these five upcoming open houses. The homes range in price and by location throughout the Town of Brookhaven. You can click on the photo of the home for more information about the listing and open house. (Sachem Patch)
- Tonight, expect heavy rain and potential flooding. Up to 1.5 inches of rain may drench Long Island with rain starting after 2 p.m. "The main threat from this rainfall will be from minor urban and poor drainage flooding," the National Weather Service said. "Localized flash flooding is possible, especially [this] evening." (Patch)
