The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

(Patch Media)

Good morning, everybody! It's Saturday in Sachem and I'm back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what's happening locally, including updates on:

  • Sachem Students celebrate Red Ribbon Week Oct. 24 through Oct. 31.
  • Whole Foods, Starbucks proposed at tenants for the near empty Sun Vet Mall.
  • Ronkonkoma office building sells for $1.6M.

But first, today's weather:

Tropical rainstorm. High: 71 low: 49.

Here are the top three stories in Sachem today:

  1. Ronkonkoma office building sells for $1.6M. ADE Enterprises Corp. has purchased a 13,700-square-foot office building on one acre at 5018 Express Drive South in Ronkonkoma. The company has plans to make upgrades, Long Island Business News reported. The 42-year-old building has three stories and parking for 56 vehicles. (Sachem Patch)
  2. Sachem Students celebrate Red Ribbon Week Oct. 24 through Oct. 31. Red Ribbon Week is a campaign to encourage participation in drug prevention activities and take a visible stand against drugs. Students learned about responsibility, decision making, and more. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Whole Foods, Starbucks proposed at tenants for the near empty Sun Vet Mall. Blumenfeld Development Group LLC has said that there are many grocers they have been in discussion with, and no decision has been made. The once bustling mall now only has four tenants including Red Wing shoe store, Citibank, Closeouts and Liquidations, and Sun Vet Wines and Liquors. (Sachem Patch)

Today in Sachem:

  • Little Princess & Prince Ballet Class - The Ballet Center. (9 a.m.)

From my notebook:

  • Sachem Schools: Students and staff across the Sachem Central School District honored those who served our country this week. The school held parades, projects, and activities. Check out photos in the link. (Facebook)
