Ronkonkoma Home Catches Fire, Resident Taken to Hospital

A Ronkonkoma resident was taken to the hospital with a smoke inhalation related injury after a fire broke out at Ronkonkoma home early Monday.

The Lakeland Fire department was alerted for a reported house fire on Locust Avenue just before 1 a.m.

First arriving chiefs on scene confirmed an active kitchen fire to incoming units and requested assistance from the Holbrook & Bohemia fire departments. Firefighters quickly contained the fire without further incident and removed one resident who was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital.
