LI Town Seen As Alien Planet In Adult Swim's 'Rick And Morty'
The Algonquin name meaning "boundary fishing lake" was featured as an alien planet in the Oct. 9 episode, "JuRicksic Mort."

RONKONKOMA, NY — Ronkonkoma recently appeared in Adult Swim's "Rick and Morty" as an alien planet.
The show details the interplanetary misadventures of a mad scientist named Rick Sanchez and his nervous grandson, Morty Smith. In the season six, Oct. 9 episode, "JuRicksic Mort," Ronkonkoma is featured.
A synopsis of the episode on "Ricky and Morty" Fandom reads: "Seemingly out of the blue, Earth's old rulers return. They make a great case for changing the way society does business, but Rick isn't going to put up with it."

Ronkonkoma is listed as a planet in a guidebook one of the characters holds in the episode. The guidebook has other planets listed with its indigenous creatures, and in the "Rick and Morty" universe, Ronkonkoma has snail-like creatures with large eyes on long tendrils.
One of the show's directors, Douglas Einar Olsen grew up in the Town of Smithtown, according to Careersinfilm.com.

Patch has reached out to Adult Swim for a little more insight.
A screenshot of the guide book was featured in a recent Reddit post that engaged users with some comical takes.
One poster wrote, "Do it for Ronkonkoma."
"I like to affectionately refer to the people from my town as Ronkonkomaniacs," quipped another.
Another person added that the show's writers should have used "Speonk" instead.
Yet another Reddit user pointed the name-check out, jokingly writing, "My hometown’s name is dumb enough that it got used as an alien planet in Rick and Morty."
