Suffolk County U-Turn Crash Leaves 6 Hurt, 1 Critical: Police
A Jeep slammed into a Toyota sedan that was making a U-Turn on Sunday night. Six people were hurt, and one was critical.
RONKONKOMA, NY — Six people were hurt, one critically, in a crash in Ronkonkoma over the weekend, police said.
A Toyota sedan was parked facing on the shoulder on Ocean Avenue, near Peconic Street, around 8:45 p.m. Sunday when it tried to make a U-turn, Suffolk County police said. As it turned, it was struck by a northbound Jeep Wrangler.
The 19-year-old Toyota driver from Islip was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. Two passengers in his vehicle, a 19-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, were taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of their injuries. They were expected to survive.
