Ronkonkoma Woman, 12-Year-Old Daughter Injured In Head-On Crash

The two were hospitalized after being hit by a drunk driver on Sunday, police say.

NESCONSET, NY - A Lake Grove man was arrested for driving drunk after a head-on crash in Nesconset on Sunday evening, according to Suffolk Police.

Danny Banegas, 37, was driving a 2000 Acura eastbound on Middle Country Road, near Hillcrest Drive, when his car crossed into the westbound lane and struck a 2014 Nissan Rogue at 5:30 p.m., police said.

The driver of the Rogue, a 54-year-old Ronkonkoma woman, and her 12-year-old daughter were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Banegas was also admitted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

He was charged with DWI and will be arraigned at at a later date, police said.
