Sachem Alum Kinkaid Impresses in First NHL Start for Devils

Sachem East alum Keith Kinkaid earned rave reviews for his first NHL start for the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night.
Kinkaid, of Farmingville, made 37 saves in goal, several of the spectacular variety against the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Devils went on to lose the game in a shootout, 3-2, but sports writers took note of Kinkaid’s performance.

“Kinkaid looked sharp right from the start, dealing with shots through traffic and making some big stops,” NJ.com’s Rich Chere wrote.
“While the Devils ultimately fell in another shootout, Kinkaid stood strong,” Michael Gwizdala, of The Hockey Writers, wrote. “How much he’ll play going forward is unknown but this much is certain, Kinkaid should have the confidence of the organization and more playing time because, he’s earned it.
