Sachem Bites Nearby: Joe's Corner Coffee Café
Warm drinks, sweet eats, and a welcoming atmosphere make Joe's a great place to check out.
Five Corners in Lake Grove is known Sachem-wide for a number of reasons. Maybe it strikes a chord with you for serving as the gateway to Sachem North. Maybe you’re a member of the United Methodist Church. Or maybe you are all-too familiar with the *ahem* lengthy traffic light cycles. But regardless of your relationship with Five Corners, a new landmark has arrived to draw your attention: Joe’s Corner Coffee Café. Serving up a plethora of hot and cold coffee concoctions along plenty of artfully-crafted pastries and treats at reasonable prices, Joe’s has all the parts in place to become a Sachem-staple.
Décor: The spacious coffee shop has a gray, brown and white color scheme with richer brown and gold highlights throughout. 10 foot-high book shelves are bedecked with tomes and other interesting antiques. There is table seating for around 16 in addition to three comfy leather chairs surrounding a wide coffee table. Two massive LCD TVs hang from the walls. It truly is a visually great spot to sit, enjoy a drink, and connect to the free WiFi for either work or fun.
Drinks: A veritable waterfall of delicious drinks pour freely from Joe’s. All menu items come in small, medium or large sizes, and run the gamut from the simple, like a Coffee (S $1.50, M $1.80, L $2.10) or Hot Chocolate (S $2.25, M $2.55, L $2.85), to the sublimely unique, like the decadent Peanut Butter Café Frosseta (S $3.15, M $3.85, L $4.25) or the Mexican Hot Chocolate (S $2.35, M $2.65, L $2.95), with its rich cocoa taste and spicy cinnamon undertones.

Food: Joe’s features a wide selection of decadent pastries freshly baked-up by Sweet Lady Lulu’s artisan bakery. There are over 20 different pastries available daily from Joe’s, including plenty of special arrivals not printed directly on the menu. Bagels ($.99), fluffy Croissants ($2.79), assorted Muffins ($2.25) and Scones ($1.75) add backbone to the menu if you’re looking for something a little less sugary to pair with your drink.

Also available is the tasty Soup of the Day ($3.25) and plenty of other gourmet packaged goods like cookies for you to munch on.
Service: The staff was extremely friendly, full of smiles and eager to please. I was waited on patiently by the counterperson while I chose my order, and both items came out hot, fresh and quick.
The Signature Photo: Pictured in the main photo is a cup of Mexican Hot Cocoa and a big Belgian Waffle ($4.75) topped with rich whipped cream and plenty of strawberries. This one-two combo brought sweet, savory spice and fluffy, creamy deliciousness together in a swirl of coffee shop bliss. With waffle and cocoa in-hand, laptop on-lap, and atmosphere mellow, this writer thoroughly enjoyed his time during what was surely the first of many stops at Joe’s.
