🌱 Sachem Daily: COVID-19 Chance Connection + Weekend Weather

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

(Patch Media)

Hey, Sachem! Let's get you all caught up to start this day off on an informed note. These are the most important things going on around town today.

First, today's weather:

Sunshine; breezy in the p.m. High: 50 low: 45.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Sachem:

  1. How COVID connected these two healers at O Light Body Bar. COVID-19 is now in its third year. It's done a detriment to our society, but there have been many feel-good stories to come out of the pandemic. Check out how massage therapist Danielle Ormsby connected with chiropractor Dr. Dill when in need of his "essential services" during lockdown. It was the only way to keep her business open. The two would connect, hit it off, and eventually team up to offer their services at O Light Body Bar in Ronkonkoma. "This is a quiet place that's set back from the street," Ormsby says. "So it's very private. It's a home, but actually an office space and when you walk in you feel like you came home. We take care of you like family here." (Greater Long Island)
  2. As we head into Valentine's Day and Super Bowl Weekend, take a look at the weather forecast ahead. Friday is another warm day with a high reaching 52. Saturday will be the best day we've had in months, with temperatures reaching 55 degrees. The cold will be back for Sunday and Monday, so make sure you get out and enjoy the weather Friday and Saturday (Sachem Patch)
  3. Check out these 2 new properties for sale in the Sachem area. Home prices are at an all-time high, and inventory is at an all-time low. Experts say that prices should come down by the end of the year, but if you're looking for a home now, we have you covered. Here are the two most recent houses to hit the market in and around the Sachem area — including one in the Islip area with 1 bed and 1 bath for $179,990, and another in the Islip area with 3 beds and 1 bath for $429,000. Today in Sachem:

  • Try a Class $1 - The Ballet Center. (9:00 a.m.)

From my notebook:

  • Larry McKenna, Community Contributor: "Want top dollar for Your house? Now's the time to list It. When you're selling any item, you usually want to sell it for the greatest profit possible. That happens when there's a strong demand and a limited supply for that item. In the That time is now." (Patch)
  • Sachem Schools: Merrimac Elementary School students recently celebrated their annual Hour of Code initiative, a national movement to bring computer science into schools and guarantee at least an hour a year of exposure to coding. Library media specialist Lisa Martinez and art teacher Jenna Motroni felt that one hour of computer coding for the year just wasn't enough and decided to provide students with an expansive coding experience as part of the month's activities. • Sachem Library: Everyone had a blast making forts last Saturday evening. It was also the perfect opportunity to play hide-and-seek with Miss Amy and Miss Christine. Check out the video of Fort Night in the link! (Facebook)
