  1. Check out these pet safety tips for July 4th. As we all love to watch fireworks, they scare animals and create anxiety and fear in our best friends. Click the link for important tips on how to keep your pet safe this year. (Patch)
  2. Lifeguard bitten by shark; two beaches closed. The lifeguard was bitten in the chest and hand and is expected to make a full recovery. "Notice for Smith Point and Cupsogue beaches: swimming has been suspended due to dangerous marine activity as of Sunday, July 3," Suffolk County Parks tweeted. (Patch)
  3. ICYMI: Suffolk County reports first Monkeypox case. There have now been 96 cases in New York and 400 in the country. "While the current risk to the general public is low, we urge the public as well as healthcare providers in Suffolk County to be aware that this rare virus has been found in the region and to know the signs and symptoms and manner of transmission of the monkeypox virus," said Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. Gregson Pigott.
