- Police investigating IHOP break-in link to area burglaries. There has been a string of burglaries in our area in the past few months. The common theme is a door or window are smashed in and money is stolen. Police said someone broke a glass door and went inside IHOP and stole cash sometime between 4:15 and 5:15 a.m. on Jan. 25. No other details were released. It's under investigation if all the burglaries are related to that of Hummus Mediterranean Grill in Holbrook, which was burglarized for the second time since October on Jan. 9, a police spokeswoman said. - The next meeting of The Substance Use Disorders Subcommittee is scheduled for February 3 in Suffolk County. After newly appointed police commissioner Rodney Harrison spoke with residents via Zoom, it's evident we need to tackle the drug and crime problem in our area. There will be a Substance Abuse Disorders subcommittee meeting on Feb 3. You can get involved and give suggestions and also hear what plans will be made in 2022 to tackle this crisis. Please call the MH Division at 631-853-8500, to get the numbers to participate in this Zoom call. (Press Release Desk)
- Town-by-town LI snow estimates: Near-blizzard conditions possible. We've been watching and following this storm for you all week. The forecast and storm movement were constantly changing, originally calling for just a few inches of snow. The latest and most accurate forecast comes with the storm hitting tonight. We are in for a big one folks, with over a foot of snow possible and wind gusts up to 55 MPH. There will be blizzard conditions Saturday and we hope you stay safe and warm.
