First, today's weather:
A gusty t-storm in the p.m. High: 88 low: 73.
Here are the top 3 stories today in Sachem:
- Man attacked and hit with bat during Ronkonkoma home burglary Monday. "Two men entered a home on Shelter Road around 12:30 p.m. Monday and struck a man in the house with a bat, police said. The man declined medical attention, police said." The suspects stole a camera in the burglary and police asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Sachem Patch)
- Three meteor showers will be visible this month. The skies will be lit up, and there are plenty of options for your viewing pleasure. Click the link to see the timeline of which meteor showers will grace our skies in July. (Patch)
- Heat advisory in effect through Thursday. It's been a scorcher so far this week on Long Island and head indexes will still reach near 100 degrees in our area. The advisory ends at 8 p.m. today but could be extended if temperatures do not cool down. Stay cool and hydrated, and make sure to never leave your pets outside. (Patch)
