Here are the top 3 stories in Sachem today:
- LI Duo slung expletives, called riders 'immigrants': MTA. As more of this story comes to light, new details are being released from the MTA. New reports have come out from onlookers. A female witness, who is not identified, told Metropolitan Transportation Authority police that Kristen Digesaro, 38, of Huntington "in substance" told a woman in the Jan. 10 incident: "You f------ immigrants, you have no rights in this country. You have no right to ask anyone to move. You don't even pay taxes," according to the MTA's complaint, which was obtained by Patch. She heard Justin Likerman, 37, of Ronkonkoma "in substance" say to the woman: "F------ foreigners. You take all of our resources." He then threw beer in the woman's direction, with her 10-year-old son looking on, according to the complaint (Sachem Patch)
- New Bureau to Examine Gangs and gun violence: Suffolk DA. As gun and gang violence continues to be on the rise on Long Island, Suffolk County has formed a new bureau to tackle the issue. The Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau will "combat gun violence and criminal activity perpetrated by gangs and criminal organizations operating in Suffolk," DA Tierney's office said. It will use multiple investigative strategies, including sophisticated crime scene and data analysis "to build successful conspiracy and enterprise corruption cases against offenders" to "incapacitate and dismantle" the "violent enterprises," Tierney's office stated in a news release.
