(Patch Media)

Rise and shine, Sachem! Let's get this Wednesday started. Here's everything you need to know in town today.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy. High: 46 low: 38.

Here are the top stories today in Sachem:

  1. New York State residents have the highest tax burden in the country. A recent study by WalletHub concluded that New York State has a 12.75% tax burden, making it the highest. The burden takes into effect property taxes, individual income taxes, and sales and excise tax. In a recent other study we posted, New Yorkers are also fleeing from the state at a much higher rate than the majority of other states. (Patch)
  2. 73-year-old man arrested in connection with possession of child pornography. Nicholas Pedagno, of West Islip, was charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child, a felony, police said. "Upon examination of his portable electronic device, investigators found several accounts during which Pedagno identified himself as a younger person in various chat applications, police said." 3. ICYMI: Lynwood Elementary students blend history and technology to create ancient pyramids. "As part of the project, students studied the location, culture, religions, governments, advancements and fall of the Aztec, Inca and Maya civilizations. With the support of technology integration specialist Ms. Haas, the students learned how to use a computer program called Tinkercad to create and design their pyramid. Once their creations were complete, they were printed on the 3D printer to bring their visions to life."(Press Release Desk)
