🌱 Sachem Daily: Roads Treacherous + Man Charged in 5 Burglaries
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

Good morning, Sachem! Let's get you started this Sunday with everything you need to know going on in town today.
First, today's weather:
Breezy, cold, blowing snow. High: 23 low: 12.
Here are the top stories today in Sachem:
- Charges in 5 Brookhaven, Smithtown break-ins: police. Gregory Aponte, 56, was charged with five counts of third-degree burglary on Thursday for breaking into two Dunkin' locations — one of them twice, Mayra's Bakery in Lake Grove, and Jiang's Asian Fusion in Holbrook, police said. He broke into Dunkin' in Nesconset on Jan. 16 and 27, Mayra's on Jan. 16 and Jiang's on Oct. 10. It is not clear at the time if Aponte was linked to the most recent Hummus Mediterranean break-ins. - 'Very difficult, hazardous' conditions in Suffolk. Yesterday's blizzard created treacherous conditions for all of Long Island, but our area got his especially hard. With nearly two feet of snow, blowing wind, and freezing temperatures, this was a storm for the ages. It's still not safe to travel for nonessential business, as the freezing temperatures overnight made the roads a sheet of ice. The side roads are extremely dangerous to navigate, and Suffolk County plows will be working through the night to get the roads ready for the Monday morning commute. If you do need to go out, remember taking a longer time to get to your destination is better than being in an accident. (Sachem Patch)
- Missing Long Island man found dead on walking trail. Missing Long Island man found dead on walking trail. We have a sad update on the missing man out of Centereach. The body of Justin Lee, 34, of Centereach was found Friday afternoon, Suffolk police said. Police said the body of thirty-four-year-old Justin Lee was found west of Brookhaven Drive, near the North Shore Rail Trail, at about 2:30 p.m. He was reported missing by an acquaintance on Jan. 21, according to police.
