🌱 Sachem Daily: School Mask Mandate Lifted + New Homes For Sale

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

Good morning, Sachem! Let's get you all caught up to start this Monday, February 28 off on an informed note. Here's everything you need to know today in Sachem.

First, today's weather:

Sunny, breezy and colder. High: 32 low: 20.

Here are the top stories in Sachem today:

  1. New York State to drop mask mandate. After a long-debated topic on whether or not kids should be masked in schools, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced she is dropping the mask mandate, effective March 2. Hochul said: "The day has come. We are lifting the statewide mask requirements as of Wednesday."Hochul also stated that New York State will have zero tolerance for those who bully children who still come to school masked. (Patch)
  2. Take a look at the weather forecast for the week ahead. March begins on Tuesday, so hopefully that means these crazy inconsistent temperatures can start to warm up as we head towards spring. Last week consisted of record temps on Wednesday, followed by snow and ice on Friday. The weather is seasonable this week, with warmer weather and rain as you head into the weekend. (Sachem Patch)
  3. Check out these four new properties for sale in the Sachem area. As always, Patch collaborates with Redfin to keep you in the loop on the newest and hottest homes to hit the market.
