🌱 Sachem Daily: School Supply Drive + First NY Amazon Fresh Opens

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

(Patch Media)

Hello all. It's me, Andrew Tessler, your host of the Sachem Daily — here to tell you everything that's fit to print about what's happening locally. Let's do this.

First, today's weather:

A t-storm around in the p.m. High: 86 low: 68.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Sachem:

  1. Sachem North High School teacher Andrew Brezak's new book "Lesson Plan" is out now. "A gripping story centered around an undercover agent who was tasked to spoil an assassination plot that will lead the country into shambles. While doing this confidential mission, Reid Mathews crosses paths with his ex-lover, Kelly Casey, an FBI agent. The two must set aside their past and settle their differences for countless lives are now in their hands." (Newswire)
  2. First Amazon Fresh in New York opens in Oceanside. The state-of-the-art store is all digital, with no human contact necessary. Everything is based off QR codes, but shoppers can still do a self-checkout. "Come in, do your shopping and go," District manager Cory Keller told Patch. "As busy as people are every day, that's what we pride ourselves on, around the freshness and the convenience." (Sachem Patch)
  3. Sachem Library's second annual School Supply Drive to run until September. The donated items will go to students of all ages within the district and local charities and churches in the nearby communities. "We deliver to Farmingville, Lake Ronkonkoma and Holbrook," said children's librarian Megan McGinnis about the locations of the churches and charities. "Last year we collected 300 items."
