The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

Happy Monday, Sachem! Here are the most important things happening today in town.

First, today's weather:

Sunny and not as cold. High: 30 low: 21.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Sachem:

  1. Sachem weekly weather forecast. We hope you are recovering from the Blizzard of '22 and are ready for some warmer temperatures this week. The good news is we have multiple days of weather above 40 degrees which means some of the snow should melt this week. We are also watching a potential snowstorm Friday night, but we will keep you updated on that throughout the week. (Sachem Patch)
  2. ICYMI: Charges in 5 Brookhaven, Smithtown Break-ins: Police. Gregory Aponte, 56, was charged with five counts of third-degree burglary on Thursday for breaking into two Dunkin' locations — one of them twice, Mayra's Bakery in Lake Grove, and Jiang's Asian Fusion in Holbrook, police said. He broke into Dunkin' in Nesconset on Jan. 16 and 27, Mayra's on Jan. 16 and Jiang's on Oct. 10. It is not clear at the time if Aponte was linked to the most recent Hummus Mediterranean break-ins. (Sachem Patch)
  3. Man struck in head in Centereach beating. A person was transported to a local hospital after being struck by an assailant in Centereach on Friday, Suffolk police said. The person was struck by a stranger at a location on Middle County Road at about 11:15 p.m. and the force caused a cut on the top of their head, police said. No further details were released.(Sachem Patch)
