🌱 Sachem Daily: Weekend Weather + 5 Cars Stolen In One Hour

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

Happy Friday, people of Sachem! Let's get you all caught up on what's happening locally to start today off on an informed note.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny. High: 66 low: 45.

Here are the top stories today in Sachem:

  1. 5 cars stolen in one hour in Hauppauge. Five cars were stolen between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. Each one of the cars were unlocked with the key fobs inside. Detectives are looking into if three of the thefts are connected. If you have any information, please call Suffolk County Crimestoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Patch)
  2. Weekend weather to feel more like Spring. Last weekend the weather forecast brought cold and snow, but it's much different this time around. Friday will be the nicest day of the year with temperatures hitting 70 plus. Saturday, we have rain and thunderstorms, but it will still be warmer with a high near 60. Sunday will be your perfect light jacket day with sunny skies and seasonal temperatures.
  3. ICYMI: Daylight savings may be coming to an end. Is it finally time that changing the clocks twice a year comes to an end? That's what the U.S Senate thinks after they voted unanimously on the "Sunshine Protection Act". "The act of springing clocks back and forward is an antiquated pain, not to mention a safety and health hazard," Senator (D) Skoufis said, adding that studies suggest a later sunset could lead to a reduction in energy consumption, crime, and vehicular/pedestrian fatalities.
