Here are the top 3 stories in Sachem today:
- Thousands of residents have personal information leaked in Suffolk cyberattack. The residents will be notified and offered free identity theft protection, according to the county. "The assessment is ongoing," the county said. "Suffolk County wants to ensure that employees, residents, and stakeholders are informed about precautionary measures they can take to help them protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud or identity theft." (Sachem Patch)
- Brooklyn man receives 31 years to life sentence for distributing drugs throughout Suffolk County. Keston Braithwaite, 39, had a stash house on Southport St. where he packaged drugs and kept kilo quantities of fentanyl and other illicit drugs. Guns and cash were also recovered from the home. "Fentanyl and other dangerous and addictive drugs are a lucrative business for unscrupulous drug dealers," Suffolk County DA Ray Tierney said. "The illegal drugs they sell not only ruin the lives and disrupt families, they kill. And that's why if you get caught dealing these dangerous drugs in Suffolk County, we will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law." (Patch)
- Weekend weather report brings ideal fall temperatures. Expect windy conditions when you wake up today, but it will warm up with the temperature right around 70 degrees with sunny skies. Sunday will be a bit warmer, but the sun has a glim chance of peeking out. No rain in the forecast all weekend. (Weather.com)
