Entrees: In addition to breakfast specials, Firehouse Bagels also offers a strong lineup of lunch entrees that provide enormous bang for your buck. Order up a custom deli meat sandwich or choose from a plethora of Firehouse-inspired sandwiches such as the Captain ($6.49 hero, $5.49 roll) stacked high with Genoa salami, ham, pepperoni, provolone, roasted peppers and the works, or an EMT ($6.79 hero, $5.79 roll) with juicy chicken cutlet, cheese, honey mustard and the works.
Firehouse Bagels also offer lunch platters, like a savory Philly Cheese Steak ($6.99 hero, $5.99 roll) with tender steak, onions, cheese, French fries and cole slaw, or a gyro platter ($5.99) served with French fries and cole slaw.
Tuna, chicken, egg, macaroni, potato and cole slaw salads are also available by the pound.
Desserts: A collection of freshly baked turnovers, muffins and strudels are available daily.
Catering: Firehouse Bagels offers catering for all occasions, specializing in custom party platters, 6ft & 3ft heroes ($11.95 per foot, $14.95 w/salad per foot), and their famous 6ft or 3ft egg sandwich ($8.95 per foot).
Service: Service at Firehouse bagels is fast and friendly and you'll have the chance to converse and interact with individuals closely involved with the Holtsville Fire Department which is located just across the street. Food took less than 10 minutes to be prepared and arrived hot and fresh.
Signature Dish: This is Firehouse Bagels, so what better menu choice than the Fireman ($6.29 hero, $5.29 roll), a monster sandwich stacked high with thinly sliced honey maple turkey, chicken breast, muenster and the works. I was pleasantly surprised by how jam-packed this hero was, and barely made it through half along with 6 mozzarella sticks before throwing in the towel. The Fireman was tasty, beyond filling, and a great value.
This is also a bagel shop, so an everything bagel with plain cream cheese was ordered up. The bagel was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the everything topping added the right amount of flavor without overpowering, and the plain cream cheese was smooth and creamy, taking the perfect amount of edge off the everything bagel.
