Sachem Marching Band Takes Home State Title In Large School Competition
They won the Governor's Cup in the Large School 3 Division at the state's field band conference on Monday.
SACHEM, NY — It was a welcome home ceremony the student-musicians from the Sachem Marching Band will not soon forget.
The band was escorted home from the state's Field Band Competition on Tuesday by the Farmingville Fire Department, the day after taking home the Governor's Cup for their performance in the Large School 3 Division in Syracuse.
Once home, they were feted by classmates, school officials, family, and friends.

The band is made up of 60 students from the high school and middle school.
In a news release, Jay Greengold, senior drum major, stated that from the second he saw the band play he knew "we were going to do great things.”

“I’m so happy for each and everyone in this band and I can’t wait for the future,” he added.
