Despite a time of economic uncertainty, businesses in the Sachem community are showing promising growth and development. Here’s a look at what’s happened lately:
Brookhaven Supervisor Mark Lesko Welcomes UFC Aerospace Corp. to Holtsville: Last week Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally welcome UFC Aerospace Corp. to Holtsville.
UFC Aerospace, started in 1972, is a supply chain manager that provides over 20 inventory management programs including aerospace kitting solutions and fastener and consumable JIT (just-in-time) programs. The company is also a provider of a range of chemical management services, as well as hardware for the aerospace, aircraft, and airline industries. The 50,000 sq. ft. facility at 100 Corporate Drive in Holtsville serves as UFC Aerospace’s new headquarters, previously located in Bay Shore.

CVD Equipment Corp. Announces Record-Breaking Sales in 1st Half: CVD Equipment Corp. reported sales of $24.6M and $40.4M for the 6-month and 12-month periods ending June 30, 2011, respectively, according to Business Wire. The high volume of orders exceeds all of those recorded in the company’s history, and marks a 165 percent increase for the 6-month period and 193 percent for the 12-month period from the previous year. Business Wire said the company has continued to witness an increase in sales, with $8.4M of new orders booked in the three-month period also ending June 30, 2011. CVD Equipment of Ronkonkoma designs and manufactures customized equipment and process solutions that are used to create solar, nano and advanced electronic components, materials and coatings for research and industrial applications.
LISAPA Launches New Website: The Long Island Second Amendment Preservation Association (LISAPA) announced the launch of its official website last week, as reported on AmmoLand.com. The LISAPA exists to preserve the rights of citizens granted through the second amendment to the United States Constitution through promoting awareness of prudent firearms maintenance, safety, and ownership. The new website aims to assist in these goals through providing timely information to Long Island residents and encouraging increased community involvement. LISAPA president Steven Blair has stated that the site will focus on community service, new products, competition, firearm training and political action, as well as how these concentrations affect women and children. The website can be viewed at www.lisapa.org.

Joe’s Corner Cafe in Lake Grove Offers Live Entertainment: Joe’s Corner Cafe will be hosting live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. The cafe, located at Five Corners in Lake Grove, experienced its grand opening in June 2011. The entertainment schedule features local artists and includes pianists, guitarists, rock cover bands and country music. Joe's also hosts Open Mic and Comedy Nights.
