Business news this week remained positive, with some trying out new tactics to get into the spirit of the season. Here's a look at what's happened lately:
Sigma Corp. Holds “Dear Sigma” Contest: In the spirit of the holidays, Sigma Corporation of America is hosting a contest to give one lucky winner the photography gear on his or her wish list this year. Sigma, a Ronkonkoma-based provider of cameras, lenses, and flashes, opened up the “Dear Sigma” contest on November 28, which will be running until December 16. Participants can enter the contest by visiting the company’s Facebook fan page, at which point they can click on the “Sweepstakes” tab to find the entry form.
Each entry form must be accompanied by a “Dear Sigma” letter outlining the Sigma products that contestants want, and the contest winner will win this choice of items up to $2,500 MSRP. Online voting on each entry will take place from December 16-21, and a winner will be chosen from the top five finalists by a panel of judges from Sigma Corporation on December 22. Entries will be judged on based upon their humor, creativity, and general appreciation for Sigma’s products.

CVD Equipment a Participant in 7th Annual Livingston Nanotech Conference: Chemical vapor deposition systems provider CVD Equipment announced this week that it was invited to participate in the discussion entitled "Scaling Up Revolutionary New Materials” at the 7th Annual Livingston Nanotech Conference on December 7, according to Business Wire.
The panel will take place from 1:45-2:30 p.m., and CVD will discuss how its Materials division will advance the state-of-the-art in traditional and non-traditional markets for chemical vapor deposition to enhance 1D, 2D and 3D materials. Representatives from the company will be available for Q&A following their session.

NBTY to Webcast Fiscal Fourth-Quarter Conference Call: Nutritional supplement distributor NBTY announced earlier this week that it will webcast a conference call reviewing its fiscal fourth quarter results, according to PR Newswire.
The live webcast took place at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, but replays of the conference call will be available until Tuesday, December 6 by calling 800-585-8367 with the PIN number 31460769. The results for NBTY’s fiscal fourth quarter were posted on its website prior to the webcast.
5000 Corporate Court Sells for $39.25 Million: Capital solution provider Jones Lang LaSalle closed the sale of 5000 Corporate Court in Holtsville for Piedmont Office Realty Trust this week, according to the New York Real Estate Journal. The class A Suffolk County office property was purchased by an institutional investor, and the deal was lead by Jones Lang LaSalle’s managing directors Joe Garibaldi and Peter Nicoletti and vice president Tom Walsh.
Local market guidance was provided by executive vice president and Long Island market director Ray Ruiz and vice president Marianne Dugan. The property was designed in 2000, and currently houses U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) tenants such as Department of Internal Revenue Services Compliance, Department of Internal Revenue Services Appeals and the Bureau of Customs and Immigration Services. The location spans 37 acres and is 82% leased at the present time.
