Sachem's Top Ten: Jeremy Kline

A look at the Top 10 academically ranked students at both Sachem North and East.

Sachem Patch is highlighting the top 10 ranking academic students at both Sachem North and Sachem East.

Today we have:

No. 9: Jeremy Kline; Sachem East

School Attending: Stony Brook University

From the School: Jeremy has been an exemplary student in Sachem High School East’s Science Research Program.  Has been involved in numerous clubs including, President of the National Honor Society and Vice President of National History Honor Society.  Jeremy devoted 30 hours per week volunteering at the Fisher Lab in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University.

From Jeremy: I was born in Queens, New York, but moved out to Long Island at the age of four. Growing up, I was encouraged by my family to do as well as I possibly could in academics, which laid the foundation for what I would do in high school.

During my time at East, I became involved in the science research program; my partner, Alan Mohr, and I participated in many science competitions, which developed my love for biochemistry.

However, I also became deeply engrossed in history, where, under the guidance of teachers like Mr. Varajao, my love flourished. Teachers like Mr. Varajao are rare; the enthusiasm he brings to his class is unrivaled by any other teacher I have had, and his obsession with movies and T.V. shows have led to some very interesting discussions.

However, I have one person in particular to thank, and that is my twin brother, Jonathon. Jon, you have been there for me through thick and thin, and I know that you’ll do great with whatever you pursue in this lifetime. It is an honor to call you my family, my twin brother, but, most importantly, my best friend.
